Prior to the mass start of the Great North Run there was a minute's silence to mark the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II, followed by a stirring rendition of God Save The King. Around 60,000 took on the Half Marathon and first home for Barrow was Jon Foxall in a PB time of 1:26:10.
The Leicestershire Road Running League has now finished and an impressive 52 people had represented the Club. It was a successful season with the Mixed Team winning Div 3, plus individual success for Sallyann Harper and Paul Leaney who were 2nd and 3rd respectively in their age categories. SOCIAL EVENT - Curry Night on 7th October
The Social Committee has arranged a Curry Night at the Tandoori Empire in Quorn for Friday 7th October at 7.30pm. The menu will be poppadoms, selection of starters (meat & veggie), naan and a selection of curries (chicken, lamb & vegetable). Other dietary needs can be accommodated if you let us know. You can bring your own alcohol and we just have to buy soft drinks, if wanted. The cost is £25.00 per person to be paid via PayPal using the following email address [email protected], by 30th September. N.B. You will need to have a PayPal Account. If you cannot pay by PayPal, please contact Julie Felstead or Claire Armitage who will make arrangements to pay by bank transfer.
