The main race for Barrow Runners this week has been the Shelton 10K, with 33 members racing. First home for the club was James Smith in 14th place, and our first female was Amey Brassington, who was overall tenth female. It was a club championship race and, after today, Ian Cox and Amey Brassington are in the top spots!

Take a look at the refreshed event calendar, where Rob Beers has been busy populating lots of local (and not so local) races.
Next week we have some particularly challenging races on the calendar:
Curbar Commotion fell race – 7th October
Tissington Trail Half Marathon – 7th and 8th October
Beacon Trail Half Marathon – 8th October
Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon – 8th October
Beginner group – Monday 2nd October, 6.45 pm at Humphrey Perkins
Our next beginners group starts today – welcome to all new runners, we hope you enjoy running with us.
Upcoming Club Champs Races:
There's now only one championship race remaining – the Leicester Half Marathon on 15th October.
Thanks to Chris Neil for the following summary of the championship so far:
Following the penultimate event at Shelton, 33 members have completed five races to score, and 102 members have ran at least one event. Both championship victors have been decided with Ian Cox and Amey Brassington taking an unassailable lead into the final race, Leicester Half. Ann Hillier is also guaranteed 2nd overall.
However, many of the age category positions will go down to the wire at the Leicester Half:
MV40 - four points separate Andy Price, Mat Richardson and Rich Keep
MV50 - Alex Toll leads Ian Robinson by only two points
MV60 - Bomber has a clear lead, almost impossible to catch
FV40 - Mandy Hancock has won the category; while Karen Bell could tie on points, the head-to-head favours Mandy
FV50 - Ann Hillier cannot be caught in the category as she holds a commanding lead
FV60 - Sue Wilson has won the category, unable to be caught
