Club President – Jo Chappell
Jo is a founder member of Barrow Runners and our club president, representing the club in community functions. Jo also chairs our social sub committee.
About me:
I am a founder lady member of Barrow Runners, and my original role in the club was Ladies Rep - there were about six lady members in the early days. I have been involved in all aspects of the club's activities, including running all the league races many times. Also, I have run the London Marathon three times, the Great North Run five times, and various half-marathons and cross-country races including Loughborough, Nottingham, Amsterdam, Turkey Trot etc. I was honoured to take on the role of President when Dr John Earl, our first President, stepped down, and I am now very involved in the social side of the club, ably supported by a wonderful and hard-working team.
My professional working life has always been as a therapist, originally training in Australia. I have worked in London, Greece, and for the last 35 years as a reflexologist at Ragdale Hall Health Hydro, and also with a physiotherapist for 28 years.
