Club Championships
The Barrow Runners Club Championship is a competition open to all members, with a range of events from 1M to half marathon, varying each year, with a mix of on and off-road.
We run a Summer championship and a Winter championship each year.
General rules and scoring
- Once you have paid your membership fees for the season you will be entered into the championship
- You must enter the races as a Barrow Runner and run in Barrow Colours
- Age categories for prizes based on age on the date of the first championship race
- The club maintain two championship tables: male and female
- Overall category is all inclusive, i.e. Vets can win overall AND category
- Prizes allocated to 1st and runner up* for male and female in categories: Senior (overall), V40, V50, V60, V70, V80 (*Only the Summer Championship has runners up)
- Scoring is based on chip-time (or gun-time if chip-time not available) in age categories from official race results, i.e. fastest Barrow Male and Female V40 will both get 100 points, 2nd fastest Barrow Male and Female V40 will both get 99 points and so on... Likewise the fastest Barrow Male and Female V50 will both get 100 points, 2nd fastest Barrow Male and Female V50 will both get 99 points, and so on..
- If two runners share the same chip time, the higher point will be awarded to the first finisher listed in the race results
- Where the final score for a prize is tied, award based on most head to head victories. If it remains a tie, award is shared
- Any challenge should be made within 7 days/before the next race (whichever is soonest) to [email protected]
- The Committee's decision is final
The Summer 2025 Championship
Scoring
- There are 12 races in this championship
- Your best 6 results count towards your final score
- Scoring is based on chip-time (or gun-time if chip-time not available) in age categories from official race results, i.e. fastest Barrow male and female V40 will both get 100 points, 2nd fastest Barrow male and female V40 will both get 99 points and so on for. Same for V50s and so on
- The tables are split male/female with additional age categories (with ten year gaps V40-V80)
- Standings tables are updated and published quickly, as soon as results are available
- Championship tables to be used to determine overall and category winners at annual awards presentation
The races
- 3rd May - Livingston relays 3 miles
A great team event at Mallory Park - please speak to Justine to enter.
- 11th May - Bosworth Half Marathon
LRRL race - potentially the last time this event will run as they need to find a new race hub.
- 1st June - West End 8 miles
LRRL race staring in Queniborough and a chance to do a different distance to usual.
- 10th June - Three Club Challenge - approx. 5 miles
It is our year to host this event at The Rushcliffe Golf Club, East Leak. A great team event with food and drinks after.
- 8th July - Watermead Challenge 5 miles
If you missed out on our Watermead 10k then this is the next best thing!
- 19th July - Leicester Victoria parkrun
Shame this doesn't count as a 'V' for you alphabet chasers
- 3rd August - Garendon Gallop 10k
Off-road event through Garendon Park, private land between Shepshed and Loughborough.
- 14th August - Mad Mile
Who doesn't love a mad mile eh?
- 6th September - Wollaton Hall parkrun
Famously used as Wayne Manor in Batman.
- 20th September - Equniox 10k
Another fantastic team event. We will aim for the midday 10k to be the "main" event. But your fastest lap on the day will count.
- 12th October - Stilton Stumble 10k
A race through the Nottinghamshire countryside including the scenic Stilton cheese-making villages of Cropwell Bishop and Colston Bassett.
- 26th October - Leicester Half Marathon
What goes down hill at the start, must come back up at the end!

The Winter 2024/25 Championship
Scoring
- There are 10 events in this championship, although only your best time from the two Braunstone parkrun races will count
- Your best 4 results count towards your final score
- Scoring is based on chip-time (or gun-time if chip-time not available) in age categories from official race results, i.e. fastest Barrow male and female V40 will both get 100 points, 2nd fastest Barrow male and female V40 will both get 99 points and so on for. Same for V50s and so on
- The tables are split male/female then by age categories (with ten year gaps V40-V80)
- Standings tables are updated and published quickly, as soon as results are available

- 12th January - Martinshaw Cross Country
- 26th January - Grace Dieu Cross Country
- 9th February - Holly Hayes Cross Country
- 22nd February and 22nd March - Braunstone parkrun (best time counts)
- 9th March - Bosworth Cross Country
- 16th March - Kibworth 6 LRRL
- 27th March - Track event
