Barrow Runners have three Mental Health Champions as part of England Athletics' #RunAndTalk Programme; a national network of volunteers in EA affiliated clubs that promote mental wellbeing through running.
EA's goal is to have a Mental Health Champion in every England Athletics affiliated club in England so that people experiencing mental health problems can access the benefits of running in a supported way.
I have worked as a clinician for 37 years in mental health services and through life experiences have found running a great help by either being with others or to just to give my head some time off from the problem being faced.
I started running due to depressive related illness, I have a lived and worked experience of dealing with MH issues and emotional wellbeing so I want to help and support others as best I can. People definitely matter!
Please approach Lorraine, Sue or Rob if you think they can help, or if you would like to know more about the #RunAndTalk Programme.
All conversations regarding mental health and emotional well-being are bound by confidentiality.
