This weekend's racing saw a 5k milestone and pacer debut at parkrun, a challenging race in the Peak District, and the Holly Hayes cross country league race.

This Saturday saw the 100th parkrun at event at Beacon Hill, which is the closest parkrun to Barrow and includes our run coach, Rob Phillips on the core organisation team.

This weekend was all about the latest Barrow Winter Championship race, the cross county at Grace Dieu, on Sunday, where we had a great number of Barrow Runners showing their support for the club and of course our trusty parkruns across the country.

There was limited parkrun action this weekend due to the icy conditions, but on Sunday we had a number of runners taking part in the Derby Runner Cross Country League race at Martinshaw Woods.

2025 is off to a flying start so far with Cross Country success for our ladies masters team who claimed first prize in the Leicestershire XC championship. We also had individual successes with Tim Don and Kirsty Hillier

This weekend's racing had an international flavour with a number of our runners heading over to Pisa in Italy for the marathon and half marathon, and we also had a parkrunner in Australia. There were also a few local races and parkruns.

December opens with another quiet week for races and events. The star of the show goes to both Laura Browne and Nigel Hillier for their Valencia Marathon endeavours on Sunday. With a respective 03:25:54 and 04:57:25 for them both, congratulations.

There was a large number of Barrow Runners out at Seagrave Challenge this weekend, with an age category win for Malcolm 'Bomber' Harris as he returns to racing. Elsewhere, Rachel Bentley achieved her 300th Parkrun at Cusworth Hall!

This weekend's racing saw an exciting finish to the Summer Championship at Abbey Park parkrun, a 10k trail race in the Lake District and a huge marathon PB at the Yorkshire Marathon.

This weekend was all about the Half Marathon distance as an impressive number turned out at Leicester for the penultimate race of the Summer Championships. Special mention this week goes to Luka Yates who completed his first ultra at Ladybower 52K!

This week saw the running of the postponed English XC Nationals, with Geoff Beetham and Tim Hartley running well. Although not quite XC weather yet, this hails the start of the incoming XC season, which is due to start at the end of October.

Apart from Saturday's parkrun buzz, this weekend was all about the North: Barrow Runners raced in the legendary Great North Run in Newcastle, in a mountainous triathlon in the Lake District, and in the Ben Nevis Race in Scotland.

And into September we roll with Barrow Runners getting out and about representing our club in an array of different events, from the flats of Watermead Parkrun, to the Peaks of the Peak District and the Italian Alps.

Another fantastic week of variety for Barrow Runners this past weekend. The majority of which took part in the Tara Kinder Memorial 10K with 35 red, white, and yellow vests on display with Lorna Goodacre and George Burdett both securing 10K PB's.
