The RUNdown - 10 August 2026
This week was all about race number 7 in the club championship as a group of 35 took on the Joy Cann 5 on a warm August night.
Harry was our first runner back in 16th position overall, with Hollie being the first Barrow lady home. Our highest age grading of Diamond goes to both George Burdett and Paul Reeves, teaching us younger runners a thing or two about pace!
Outside of the Leicestershire league, this week was all about parkrun, as Paul Bentley celebrated his 400th parkrun (and 50th location) at Brackenhurst Campus. This was a tough course predominantly on gravel, with the group having earned their café visit afterwards.
In the height of the holidays, it was this week that Adam Law chose to visit Hastings High School in an attempt to secure an outright parkrun win. He narrowly missed out with a 5th place finish, but I'm sure he will return to settle that score and achieve a 1st place token.
You may also notice a celebrity in our Rundown photo this week, as Dawn Storer visited Coventry parkrun on the same day as Joe Wicks. She comfortably finished ahead of Joe, but graced him with a photo at the end.
Last, but by no means least, a special mention this week goes to Michael Gunson who took on the Bob Graham Round this weekend and kept us all in suspense watching his tracker. Sadly, knee pain meant that Michael had to abandon the attempt at Wasdale after an incredible 16 hours of running. I have no doubt that he will get his revenge on this course when his knee recovers.
