The RUNdown - 4 May 2026

A bountiful bank holiday weekend including a 10km win, some waddling, a few sprint triathlons, a May Day dash win, lots of parkruns, club representation at the Intercounty Mountain Championship race and quite a few PBs.

The weather turned cloudy as the bank holiday began, but that didn't deter our usual Saturday morning parkrunners from taking on the 5km of fun at various locations. George Burdett and Justine Albert gained their parkrun PBs at Watermead, where it was also particularly gratifying to see a couple of Barrow Runners coming back from injury and a couch to 5km graduate enjoying both the course and the cafe afterwards. Hollie Elliot completed her parkrun alphabet by taking a trip to Zegerplas and found the time to run a very fast mile this weekend too.

Liam Harvey won the Heaton Park 10km, a very gruelling, double-loop course in a brilliant time of 41 minutes 54 seconds. And Terri Cooper gained her 10km PB in Birmingham.

There were some Barrow Runners spotted at the Wymeswold Waddle, a lovely race for those that enjoy running uphill for a while, then turning round and running back down it again. Our Martin Lewis came home in 3rd place overall.

The Robinsons dominated their age categories in the Milton Keynes marathon, with Liz 1st and Ian 2nd, and Reuben Sneller gained a PB in the half marathon option.

As well as hitting his 5km PB at parkrun on Saturday, Steve Bramhall took on his first sprint triathlon, among a stellar crowd of Barrow Runners in Lutterworth, including our Winxy who was the 4th female home and 1st in her age category.

Ten BRs enjoyed a bank holiday Monday shuffling up and down the hills around Woodhouse Eaves for the inaugural Woodhouse Eaves Scout Group May Day Dash, this 11.42km route saw Michael Cheverton zooming to victory.
