Two club championship races, two inspiring ultra runs, and more.
Action started on Wednesday, and continued pretty much non stop from there. First on the calendar was the Three club Challenge. With 34 runners competing, we managed to retain the trophy!
On Thursday, Mark snuck out to the Peak District to run the Sheldon Fell Race.
On Friday, Lee started the Lakeland 100. Actually about 105 miles long, this is a challenging loop around the Lake District. And, as dry as it has been in Leicestershire, I believe there was some rain over in Cumbria to add to the challenge.
On Saturday, there were the usual parkruns (and a few unusual ones) as well as the Lakeland 50. Michael ran that race fuelled exclusively by SiS gels, ignoring all the amazing food at the checkpoints, but possibly laying the groundwork for a sponsorship deal. He finished in the top 20 of a field of well over 1000 runners!
On Sunday, many of us Galloped through a parched Garendon Park in search of some more club championship points. Except for those who fancied a day on the beach and ran the Northumberland Coastal Run.
Also on Sunday Lee finished the Lakeland 100! Like many of the other participants, but against his expectations, he was out there for two full nights. That was plenty of time to enjoy the smoothies, toasties, and all the other culinary highlights of the course. An impressive feat of endurance and resilience!
