The RUNdown - 25 May 2026

I am sure most of you are aware it's been a scorching hot weekend, however last weeks Barrow Runners 10k on Wednesday was pleasantly cooler with cloud cover and even the odd spot of rain. Well done to those that took part (results below) and of course thanks to all those that make the race possible by volunterring and organising. There was a plethora of feedback on facebook and I'm sure other sources, showing that the majority really enjoyed the race.

Thursday saw the second Barrow Juniors Event organised by Ian and the team at Quorn track. Again this week saw healthy numbers of participants including some invitees from Coalville Tri which is great to see. Eager to beat his mum's time, Daniel Goodacre was expertly paced by Ian Hawley and then 'Burned off' to the finish to take top spot.

This week we had a stunning number of Top3 parkrun finishers as shown in the results below. I have not categorised everyone with medals this week however due to time constraints. Well done to everyone that did well in their resective age-categories and age gradings!

As the temperature hotted up, there was just the matter of a couple of Marathons for our most eager runners. I am sure Andrew Grundy and Ronald Muhumuza were not quite expecting such a scorcher in Edinburgh in May when they booked, but that is exactly what they got. Both managed the heat well to finish with respectable times. Meanwhile Ian Robinson and Andrew Unitt ran the Cape Town Marathon which apparently was equally unforgiving with heat, humidity and undulations to contend with. Again both came in with fantastic times, expecially for Andrew who was not feeling quite well at the outset. Congratulations all.
