The RUNdown - 6 July 2026

First up, we have the Holme Pierrepont Grand Prix Series, which is a total of 4 races over the span of 2 weeks. In the first week, George Burdett has stormed to PBs in the 5K and 5 Mile distances, continuing his brilliant run of form. I would keep your eyes peeled next week as I imagine he will be in line for a V50 prize across the series.

In addition to the midweek races of the Grand Prix, the Windmill Fell Race took place on Wednesday evening, with Martin Lewis winning 1st place in his age category (although his prize seems to be with Ian Hawley and I'm not sure he's giving it back...). You may notice a recurring name in these first three races, as Paul Leaney was not satisfied having raced the LRRL in last week's rundown and proceeded to race on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night! He's showing us younger ones how it's done 😉

Our men's vice captain had more success this week with a 2nd place in the Tittesworth Water 22K race, with Ian Hawley stepping up to the 50K distance. Adding a swim and a bike to her run was Jessica Bailey, with an impressive time at the Outlaw Holkham Half.

Outside of these races, the club again had an impressive turnout at parkrun on Saturday, although the adults were nearly outnumbered by the juniors this week, with 22 juniors taking part in Sundays junior championship race at Watermead. The adults filled the volunteer roster, with a big thank you to all of those who participated in the club takeover.
