The RUNdown

This weeks RUNdown kicks off with the mid-week results of Wednesday's Joy Cann 5 mile road race which is not only an event in the LRRL but also (& perhaps more importantly) the 8th event in our own Barrow Runners Summer 2024 Championship line up.

There were 33 red, yellow, and white vests being represented at Joy Cann with Amber Lester bringing in a sub-30, Ian Robinson, Monique Raaijmakers and Susan Wilson all claiming 3rd in age categories and Andrea Winkless securing a PB.

Which was a nice warm up for Andreas 59th marathon event that she completed round the canals of Birmingham on Sunday in the Birmingham Canal Canter. Where will the 60th take you, I wonder, Andrea :-). Further afield and in the Olympic City of Paris, Jon Foxall completed the Marathon Pour Tous in a time of 03:41:17.

Finally we have our range of trusted parkrun events with Watermead supporting two PB's, first of which goes to one of our junior members with a time of 27:44 (beating dad by 3 secs!), and to Richard Perkins bringing home a PB of 21:47. Moving north west and into Wales at the Y Promenâd, Abermaw parkrun for Dawn Storer who secured a 1st in age category but our tourist of the week goes to Mark Sadler who showed up in Westpark, Munich.

Well done to everyone who donned their runners this past week for competition, for training, for recovery and for fun!
