XC at a very muddy Martinshaw, plus lots of parkruns including the inaugural Holme Pierrepont parkrun attended by 1,279 people, with six Barrow Runners in the mix.

Busy and muddy were two key words of the running weekend. 35 Barrow Runners headed out to the woods near the M1 on Sunday to enjoy mud and more mud at Martinshaw. As far as I heard, all BR's managed to stay on their feet, which was surprising given the quality of the mud throughout the course. Excellent cakes were provided and eaten gratefully, especially the millionaire's shortbread and brownies. Michael Cheverton and Anna Munday enjoyed the mud so much that they came first and second respectively, and Rachel Bentley's sneaky dodge of one of the more massive puddles was caught on camera, thanks to our resident photographer, Keith Dennison. Thanks to the XC organisational crew for keeping score, putting up the tent and guessing our ages.

There were all the usual parkruns on Saturday plus a new-joiner to the scene at Holme Pierrepont. The not-so-secret inaugural run saw 1,279 finishers, with Rebecca Chandler nearly getting a PB despite queueing for the finish funnel. There were lots of lovely placings for our runners, including four second places for Sam Minion, Rachel Bentley, Rachael Vatter and Justine Albert.
