On Saturday, Rachel and Poppy were part of the Leicestershire team at the Intercounties Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham. They enjoyed the opportunity to race some of the best runners in the country, but they were back in action on Sunday for the important one: the Bosworth Battlefield Cross Country!
Our ladies team had a very strong turnout at Bosworth. An incredible 7 of them finished in the top 20. We are waiting for the results to confirm whether it was enough to guarantee them the league win with one race left to run. In any case, I suggest you all turn up next week at Grace Dieu to finish it in style!
The men were on it too, with 3 of the 14 runners finishing in the top 20, and only one losing a shoe in the infamous bog.
Meanwhile, Paul Leaney went on a mission to out-bog everyone else and ran The Grizzly, a 20-Mile race in Devon.
Enough about mud. Over to the roads now.
There was big half marathon news this weekend. The Dennisons and Ronald ran the Lisbon Half Marathon. I don't think anything else of note happened in that race, but I may have missed some small details, like a world record being broken, because I got distracted by the mind-blowing half marathon performances closer to home. Jake ran at Holme Pierrepont and Martin and George in Cambridge. All three sharpened their half marathon PBs!
Also at Holme Pierrepont, Terri marked her return to racing with an age category win in the 10k!
