The racing began on Saturday 30 December with parkruns at Abbey Park, Beacon Hill, Beeston, Braunstone, Dishley, Victoria Park, March, Pegwell Bay, Rushcliffe and Sandringham. At Beacon Hill, Bill Phillips was finally presented with his VM70 trophy for the 2023 Championship. Congratulations Bill!
New Year's Eve saw some action outside of parkrun, with five Barrow Runners taking part in a very wet and splashy Huncote Hash. Outside the UK, Mats Vermeeren and Rachel Bentley took part in Eindejaarscorrida Leuven, a 12K road race (with lots of wet cobblestones) in Belgium.
New Year's Day saw another good mix of parkruns across the UK, at Beacon Hill, Druridge Bay, Holkham, Long Eaton, Melton Mowbray, Rushcliffe and Sandringham.
Well done to everybody who ran (and paddled) this weekend. Happy New Year!
